Diagnostic

Common RV Appliance Failures

RV appliances run on propane, 120VAC, 12VDC, or a combination — diagnosing the failure starts with isolating which power source is at fault. Most repairs are component-level: igniters, control boards, switches, and elements.

Stove or Oven Will Not Ignite

Failed piezo igniter, clogged burner orifice, regulator pressure, or thermocouple failure. Propane leak test is part of every appliance visit.

Oven Heat Inconsistent or Will Not Reach Temperature

Thermostat drift, failed safety valve, or regulator pressure issue. Common on Atwood and Suburban ovens after 7+ years.

Microwave Has No Power

Failed door switch, fuse, or magnetron. Most RV microwaves are 120VAC and require shore power or generator to run.

Washer/Dryer Will Not Drain or Spin

Pump failure, drive belt, or control board. Splendide combo units are the most common in fifth wheels and Class A motorhomes.

Ice Maker Will Not Produce Ice

Water line freeze, inlet valve failure, or thermostat fault. Often confused with refrigerator problems.

Range Hood Fan or Light Failed

Switch failure, fan motor, or LED driver. Diagnosed without removing the unit.

If you smell propane near a stove or oven that will not ignite, shut off the propane tank at the source immediately and ventilate the RV. Do not attempt repair or relight until the leak is identified — propane is heavier than air and accumulates in low spots. Mobile RV Pro performs a manometer leak test before any propane appliance work.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Mobile RV Pro repairs RV stoves, ovens, microwaves, range hoods, washer/dryer combos, ice makers, and dishwashers at the customer location across Utah and Texas. Most appliance failures are component-level — igniters, switches, control boards — and complete in a single visit. Refrigerator repair is scheduled as a separate service. The technician needs shore power access for 120VAC appliance testing.
Most non-ignition stove failures are one of four issues: failed piezo igniter, clogged burner orifice, low propane regulator pressure, or thermocouple failure on ovens. Mobile RV Pro starts every propane appliance visit with a manometer leak test, then diagnoses the ignition system in sequence. Most stove ignition repairs run $220–$420 and complete in a single visit. Igniters are stocked on the truck for major brands.
Washer/dryer pump or belt replacement runs $420–$780, control board replacement runs $520–$920. Splendide combo units are the most common in fifth wheels and Class A motorhomes — drain and spin failures are the most frequent calls and are typically a pump or belt repair. The combo unit stays installed during repair — no removal required for component-level work.
Depends on the failure mode. Door switch and fuse failures repair for $280–$520 and are worth fixing on any unit. Magnetron failures cost about the same as a new microwave installed ($520–$650) — at that point, replacement is usually the better choice. Mobile RV Pro will quote both repair and replacement so you can choose. New microwave install runs $650–$950 including the unit.
Most RV ice maker failures are one of three causes: frozen water line into the unit, failed water inlet valve, or thermostat fault inside the ice maker. RV ice makers are typically separate from the refrigerator on a dedicated water line and valve. Diagnosis isolates which of the three is at fault — repair runs $320–$720 depending on the cause. Sometimes the fix is simply thawing a frozen supply line and adding insulation.
Most extended RV warranties cover appliance component failure — igniters, control boards, motors, magnetrons. Wear items like burner grates, oven racks, and microwave glass plates are typically excluded. Mobile RV Pro coordinates claim filing with Good Sam, Wholesale Warranties, Cornerstone, and National General at no extra charge. Propane leak repair is generally not warranty-covered but is included with every appliance visit.
